Hello everyone!
Wow, I have been abandoning this blog for 4 months! Sorry, I have been very busy ///and lazy.So today I'm going to share about my favourite dish from my hometown, LAKSA JOHOR!
Okay, I am born in Selangor but my father is a Johorean so yes, Laksa Johor becomes my most favourite dish ever because of it's unique and distinct taste that makes you feel special.
Uh, well, in my opinion of course.
Laksa Johor is a curry flavoured fish soup with spaghetti, garnished with cucumber, bean sprouts, various herbs and sambal belacan to give it a kick. The origin of this dish brings us back to when Sultan Abu Bakar visited Italy and tasted spaghetti bolognese. When he returned, he asked his chef to modify the recipe of local laksa soup and make a fusion of the Malay dish with the Italian dish. Since then, Laksa Johor became so popular and is no longer a palace food but is savoured by all the people of Johor.
Next, I'm going to share a video about the recipe of Laksa Johor.
How to cook Johor Laksa (Faizah Aziz-Wells)
View a full recipe of Laksa Johor here by Chef Wan, a very famous Malaysian chef who promotes various Malaysian traditional and exquisite recipes to all over the world. To be very honest, his recipe is the most similar to my mother's.
My mother always prepare this dish when we break our fast in Ramadhan, during Hari Raya open house and also sometimes during the weekend when all of my siblings are home. This is because Laksa Johor requires more ingredients and the procedures are more complicated than the normal Laksa Utara which she cooks almost twice a month. Thus, we feel like Laksa Johor is a special dish that is only prepared during special occasions.
In general, Laksa Johor is widely known and loved by Malaysians especially Johoreans. But it is quite hard to find a diner that serve Laksa Johor the way our own mothers prepare it. In conclusion, Laksa Johor is a very special dish to all the people that love it by heart.
Seriously, my mother is a Kedahan but our family really enjoy this dish very much so my mother learned the recipe from my paternal grandmother from Kota Tinggi, Johor. I scrolled through my phone's gallery and found a photo of Laksa Johor my mother prepared during Ramadhan. So here it is! ( I feel so hungry right now :'( )
Till then, goodbye! Thanks for reading :) Have a nice day.
